Evelyn F. Defenbaugh, 81, of Danville, IL died at 8:45 am on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Provena USMC. She was born June 10, 1924 the daughter of John W. and Fay Ellen (Dickison) Johnson in Peoria, IL. She married Harold L. Defenbaugh on December 12, 1944 on the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL. She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years Harold of Danville; one daughter: Linda L. (James) Carey of Danville; two sons: Steven R. (Sherry) Defenbaugh of Danville, Scott W. (Gail) Defenbaugh of Bismarck; one brother: William A. Johnson of Phoenix, AZ.; one sister: Christine L. (Baudino) Phillips of Peoria, IL; five grandchildren: Angela S. (Denny) Burchfield, Matthew S. Defenbaugh, Megan E. Defenbaugh, Nicole R. Defenbaugh,Chad J. Defenbaugh; two great grandchildren: Lee Anne Burchfield and Luke Allan Burchfield, all from the Danville area; a sister-in-law in North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents. She graduated from Peoria High School in Peoria, IL and until her marriage worked in the office at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria. Evelyn was noted for her volunteer activities within the community, working in the Womens Division of the annual United Way fund drive, and serving on the Board of the YWCA, and as neighborhood chairman for fund drives such as MD, Heart Association, Lung Association, and Cancer Society. Prior to the start of the Oncology Clinic in Danville, Evelyn drove cancer patients to the Oncology Clinic in Champaign. She was active in Danville First Presbyterian Church, serving for many years in various positions, including President of the Mary & Martha Circle. She was a long time member and past president of the Danville Elks Womens Golf Association. She also served as President of the Womens Golf Association at the Rail Golf Club in Springfield, IL.
