Evelyn I. Davis

Evelyn Ilene Ritter Davis passed away peacefully Friday, January 23rd, 2026, at the age of 90 in Lafayette, IN. Evelyn was born on October 30th, 1935, to Roy Carl Ritter and Ida Jeannette Ritter in Danville, IL along with her twin sister Esther. She attended Oakwood High School and Danville Area Community College (DACC). Evelyn married Orville Lee Davis and enjoyed over 70 years of marriage living mostly in the “Big City” of Pence, IN.

Evelyn enjoyed family gatherings which were always filled with laughter and stories making everyone feel welcome. She had an eye for finding treasures while antiquing with her sisters Esther and Carol, who she dearly loved. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed preserving her harvest. She enjoyed researching and learning about medicine and keeping up with current medical advancements. Evelyn was a caring person. She didn’t hesitate when she found out someone was in need; she quietly provided and helped out where she could.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Orville L. Davis and her children Dennis (Julieann) Davis, Orville Thomas (Joan) Davis, and Marilyn (Daniel) Thayer. She was a proud grandmother to Justine (Joe) Heflin, Kelly (Towns) Burgess, Kyle (Missy) Thayer, and Jacob (Shannon) Thayer and six great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her loving sisters Esther Richter and Carol Sivils along with several nieces and nephews.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents Roy Carl and Ida Jeannette Ritter and her brother Richard Franklin Ritter.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11am CST, with a funeral service to follow at 12pm with Pastor Paul Briggs. Location is Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion, Danville, Illinois, 61834. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, Illinois.
