Evelyn Chumas

Evelyn Chumas, 83, of Westville, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Hawthorne Inn with family by her side. She was born on March 7, 1936 in Ridge Farm, IL, the daughter of Gregor and Clara (Johnson) Vacketta. She was united in marriage to Jon Henry Chumas on March 19, 1960 in Westville, he preceded her in death.

She will be dearly missed by her son, Joe (Rocio) Chumas of Wheaton, IL; her daughter, Kim Rowe of Northern, WI; her grandchildren, Uriel Ambrosio, Jon Chumas, and Kathleen Chumas; her sister, Wilma (Larry) Schultz of Danville, IL; her nieces, Veatrica Dower, Loretta Rose, Betty Pintar, Cindy Jones, and Kathy Bowen; her nephews, Jerald Vacketta, Roger Cornwell, Jimmy Dowers and Leslie Dowers; her sisters-in-law, Joann Angier, Prudy Fitzsimmons, and Judy Poulson; and her several great nieces & great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ore Vacketta; sister, Catherina Dowers; nephews, Ted Vacketta, Steve Dowers, and Robert Allen Dowers.

Evelyn worked as a bank teller at First National Bank in Westville. She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Westville. She enjoyed watching the Fighting Illini Basketball team. Evelyn loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Evelyns life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, located at 414 S State Street. Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 11:00am on Saturday prior to her service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Georgetown Cemetery.
