Evelyn Boen, 90, of Danville, Illinois passed away on September 27, 2010 at Hoopeston Nursing Home. Evelyn was born March 18, 1920 in Danville, Illinois daughter of Leroy and Nellie Belle (Massie) Sanders. She married Orval Boen on January 5, 1939 in Danville. He preceded her in death in February of 1996. Survivors include son: Kenneth (Sherry) Boen of Potomac, Illinois; daughters: Shirley (John) Cox of Potomac Illinois and Karen (Wayne) Koehn of Alvin, Illinois; grandchildren: Cindy (Jay) Young of Potomac, Illinois, Sherrie (Eric) Thompson of Rantoul, Illinois, Lori (Todd) Horton of Alvin, Illinois, Denise (Bert) Ingalsbe of Potomac, Illinois, Kevin (Pam) Boen of Potomac, Illinois, Kelli (Jared) Hoskins of Rossville, Illinois, Carla (Mark) Overlander of Rossville, Illinois, Jeff (Jessica) Koehn of Alvin, Illinois; great grandchildren; Ben, Cody, Lindsey, Marcy, Brandi, Jason, Jared, Kayla, Brandon, Tyler, Katie, Jacob, Lucas, Shayla, Kaylan, Collin, Lake, Katelyn, Allison, Chloe, Madison, and Allen; great-great grandchildren: Jayde, Riley, Kylie, Aubrey, Braxton, Ava, Mallory, Mason, Evan, and Landon; special longtime friend Ginny Curtis of Danville, Illinois; several nieces and nephews and lets not forget her beloved companion of dog Bridget. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Vivian Powell, Audrey Cunningham, and Marcella Gardiner; and brother Leroy Sanders. Evelyn attended Cannon school in Danville and was a seamstress and worked in several sewing factories in Danville. She was a homemaker and also an expert seamstress. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, in 1976 she made centennial dresses for her family. She truly loved music. She played the guitar, the Jews harp, and also taught herself how to play the organ. She enjoyed making crafts. Her and her husband loved to attend horse shows that her grandkids participated in. Evelyn was a very loving person and was always interested in what her family was doing. A Celebration of Evelyns Life will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Pastor J.T. Riggs officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
