Evelyn B. Gutterridge

Evelyn Bernadine Hosch was born May 9, 1929, in Highland Township in Vermillion County, Indiana , the only child of August and Zelma Francis Hosch. She was a lifelong Danville resident, attending Collett and Fairchild Elementary Schools and graduated from Danville High School in 1946. She married Harry Gutterridge on December 4, 1948, at Bowman Avenue United Methodist Church where they attended for many years. They built their house on North Griffin over 60 years ago where they made their home. She died May 27, 2022, at 7:45 p.m. at OSF Hospital in Danville.

She enjoyed gardening. She and husband were long time members of the GAO Grotto where they enjoyed camping and boating. They were proud Airstream owners and traveled across the country attending Airstream rallies. After her husbands retirement in 1988, they purchased a home in Bonita Springs, Florida, where they wintered for many years. Her husband, Harry, died in 2005. She remained at home until she entered the nursing home in 2019.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy (Bruce) Seidler of Gulfport, Mississippi and Janet (Gregory) Denman of Danville. She is also survived by three beloved grandchildren, Marjorie (Brent) Lockhart; Mark Denman (Linna Shutt); and Judy Denman (Steve Dale), all of Danville. She was looking forward to attending her grandsons wedding on July 30.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be Pastor Richard Lewis. Burial will take place at Gordon Cemetery beside her husband. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
