Evelyn Allen

Evelyn D. Allen, 81, of Danville, Illinois passed away on May 10, 2010 at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville. Evelyn was born September 9, 1928 in Danville, Illinois daughter of Herman and Fern (Middlemas) Strebing. She married Dale Allen in February of 1976. He preceded her in death. Survivors include daughter Cindy (Joe) Wakeland, sister-in-law Bert Strebing; step grandson Todd & step granddaughter Tonya, step great grand children: Todd, Emily, Lindsey, Bethany Kelsey, Sammy, & Phillip; many nieces and nephews and three special nephews Rick, Rock, and Rod Strebing. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betty Brown and brothers: Bill Strebing, Floyd Strebing, Ronnie (Sondra) Strebing. Evelyn was a graduate of Danville High School and had worked for Illinois Bell Telephone for 38 years until retiring. She was a member of Lincoln United Methodist Church in Danville for a number of years. Evelyn enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas, Elko and other trips with family and friends. A Celebration of Evelyns Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville.
