Evalyn McCollum, age 91, of Danville, passed away at 11:27 pm on Monday, July 30, 2007 at Provena USMC. She was born September 27, 1915 in Milford, IL the daughter of Grover and Lou Pearl (Coak) Fleming. Evalyn married John Jeff McCollum on August 11, 1934 in Watsika, IL. He passed away on June 30, 1970. She is survived by two daughters: Jacqueline (Larry) Pearson of Grayville, IL, Michele (Robert) Nelson of Westville, IL; one sister: Audrey (Herb) Schermann of Milford, IL; also five grandsons: Tracy (Lisa) Pearson, Michael (Annette) Warner, Jeff Warner, Scott Warner, John Drews, one granddaughter: Teresa (Andy) Brock; Nine great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one great great grandson, three nephews and one nieces. Along with her husband, Evalyn was preceded in death by her parents. Evalyn graduated from Milford Township High School in 1933. While living in Hoopeston she worked at the Radio Condenser Plant. Upon moving to Danville she was a sales clerk at the Card Cottage Hallmark House and at Alexander Toy Department. Evalyn also did volunteer work at Lake View Hospital and was a twenty-five year member of Eastern Star Iris Chapter #307 and a member of Danville United Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, reading, playing cards, and bingo. Evalyn was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Illini, and Whitesox.
