Eva Maria (Otte) Feathergill, of Urbana, formerly of Champaign, who was a science fiction reader, landscape/still life painter, needle worker, basket weaver, Snow White movie maker and porcelain doll creator died on April 19th, 2017. Eva was born on March 6th, 1930, in Arnswalde, Germany (now Choszczno, Poland). Her parents, Frederick and Helena - who both predeceased her - had immigrated to the US in 1923. On a family visit in 1930, Eva was born. Eva spent her early years in Bloomington, Illinois. Upon meeting her beloved husband, Jim - who predeceased her - she moved to Champaign. Jim and Eva shared almost 62 years together - almost all in their little house on Clark Street. There they raised their four daughters: Kathy (Bob) Lowry of Woodland Park, CO, Barbara (Bob) Dittmeier of Richmond, VA, Janey (Ron) Adams of Champaign, IL and Betsy (Steve Fromholtz) Feathergill of Hendersonville, NC. Also surviving are five grandchildren - Elizabeth Lowry, Carolyn Lowry, Sam (Nikki) Adams, Steve Adams and Sean Adams and two great-grandsons - Ronan and Wyatt Adams. Predeceased by her eldest brother, Ernest Otte, she is survived by her other brother, Robert Otte of Bloomington. Eva worked as a registered nurse, mostly at Cole Hospital, her entire career. Always an avid reader, she devoured science fiction novels her entire life. Following retirement, she combined her love of learning with traveling attending over 50 Elder Hostel (now Road Scholar) programs on topics as varied as art history and the environment. She and Jim also crisscrossed the country numerous times dropping in on the California/Oregon cousins as well as their daughters. One memorable trip was in 1994 when she travelled to Poland to visit the village where her parents had grown up and she had been born. Eva was blessed with artistic talent and she expressed this in a variety of mediums. She painted landscapes, fashioned needle work to commemorate special life events, created delicate porcelain dolls and excelled at basket weaving. In 1963, she even made a movie where she directed all of her children, the neighborhood children and various cousins in "Show White and the Seven Dwarfs." A full page article in the local newspaper memorialized this endeavor. Without a doubt, her life's greatest joy were her four daughters. She was always there for them and was surrounded with their love on her last day. She was also devoted to her five grandchildren. A constant presence in all of their lives she was always willing to babysit, create new jello dishes or share with them her creative abilities. She spent the last few years of her life residing at Prairie Winds of Urbana - an assisted living center. She enjoyed her time there immensely and her family would like to extend our gratitude for the care that she received and to the friends that she made. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 20th, 2017, at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N.
