Cayuga, Ind. -- Eunice L. Cardwell, 71, of Cayuga, passed away at 2:15 p.m. EST Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born September 5, 1937, in Neptune, Tennessee, the son of the late E. Clifford and Mabel Stewart Cardwell. He married Sally S. Hawkins on January 1, 1960 in Danville, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include: one daughter, Alice(Roy)Haun of Eugene, Indiana; three sons, Joe(Kim)Cardwell, Jason Cardwell and Dustin Cardwell all of Cayuga, Indiana; one grandson, Kenny Joe "Shorty" Cardwell of Cayuga, Indiana and two step grandchildren, Alexis and Aaron Haun both of Eugene, Indiana; one brother, John U.(Roxann)Cardwell of Nashville, Tennessee; four sisters, Blondell Ladd and Dorothy Farmer both of Russellville, Kentucky; Ion(Tink)Tanner and Barbara(David)Hargrove both of Jackson, Tennessee.He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Helen. Eunice was a farmer and owned and operated a gravel pit in Cayuga. He was a member of the Danville English Congregation Jehovah's Witnesses in Danville, Illinois. Eunice formerly pulled modified tractors in the area. Cremation was requested. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 2 P.M. CST at the Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses, 619 Voorhees Street, Danville, Illinois. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
