Eugene Marlatt

Eugene A. Marlatt, age 95, of Danville, passed away at 12:20 pm on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville. Eugene was born May 26, 1913 in Danville the son of Glenn E. and Grace L. (Fulton) Marlatt. He married Alma Wieneger on August 11, 1934. She preceded him in death on May 30, 1964. Eugene later married Gladys Hibler on March 19, 1966. She preceded him in death in February of 2000. Eugene is survived by one son: Richard E. (Kathy) Marlatt of Danville; one grandson: Marvin Marlatt, nine step grandchildren: Kim Renich, Tim Karnovich, Stewart Karnovich, Wayne Karnovich Jr., Brett Karnovich, Michelle Hibler, Grant Hibler, Tracy Hibler, Matthew Hibler; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one step-son: Herb Hibler, one grandson: Mark Marlatt, and three sisters: Bonnie, Leah, Myrtle and one daughter-in-law: Nila Marlatt. Eugene worked for General Motors in Danville for twenty six and a half years until he retired in 1975. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Danville, Furthur Light Masonic Lodge #1130, Valley of Danville Scottish Rite, and AARP. He was awarded MSA in 1983 by the Scottish Rite. Eugene enjoyed spending time in his garden and wood working. A celebration of the life of Eugene Marlatt will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastors Jerry Cummins and Gary Burns officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, November 17, 2008 and from 12 to 1 pm on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the funeral home.
