Eugene L. Jones

Eugene L. Jones, 87, of Danville passed away at 7:20p.m. at Danville Care Nursing Home on June 15, 2017. He was born October 8, 1929 to Mr. and Mrs. Elbert and Etta Jones. He was a farmer and retired from the railroad. In 1951 to 1953 he served in the Army during the Korean War. On August 27, 1951 he married Patricia A. Denney and they spent the next 60 years together before her passing on October 11, 2011. Eugene is survived by his six children, Rickie (Sherrie) Jones, Vickie Hemp of Danville, Randy Jones of Fithian, Patty King of Danville, Tracie (David) Ross of Danville, Rocky Jones of Danville; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one sister, Elberta Reed (Chuck) Reed of Chula Vista, California. Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, wife and three brothers, Elbert Jones, Ellwood Jones and Ellsworth Jones. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1pm on Thursday June 22, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Burial will be at the Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday June 21, 2017 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Dementia Society of America.
