Eugene John Michaelson

Eugene John Michaelson, 81, of Danville, passed away on June 16, 2014 at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman, IL. He was born on February 16, 1933 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of John William and Sylvia Marie (Stecker) Michaelson. Eugene will be deeply missed by one brother, Glenn Michaelson of Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother, Jack Michaelson. He was a 1950 graduate of Danville High School where the basketball team received second place in state his senior year. He went to Indiana University where he received his Bachelors Degree in education. Eugene taught physical education and general health in the Los Angeles California School District for many years before retiring in 1993. He loved golf and riding in airplanes. A celebration of Eugenes life will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation in Center in Danville with Carl Marshall officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
