Danville- Eugene Huls, 82, of Danville passed away at 7:45 AM on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on May 3, 1931 in Champaign to Wilhelm and Anna Bluhm Huls. He married Beverly Joan White on October 27, 1951 at Old Union Church. She survives. Also surviving are three children, Gary (Diana) Huls, Ron (Bess) Huls, and Diane (John) Allison; nine grandchildren, Shawn (Dana) Allison, Shane (Blythe) Allison, Jessica (Jordan St. John) Allison, Dwayne (Amanda) Huls, Crystal (Kris) Suchaczewski, Jennifer (Jake) Heidrick, Adam Huls, Billy (Melanie Buck) Powell, and Angela Powell; and great-grandchildren, Zachery, Justin, Aubrey, Ainsley, Archer, Logan, Aiden, Dylan, Megan, Kaleb, Garrett, Bradley, Skyela Powell, Tucker Powell, Kyle Pratt, and Macee Pratt; a brother, Eldon (Janey) Huls; and nephews, Jim Huls and Rick (Kelly) Huls. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Earl. Eugene retired from Dines Machine Shop in 2003, but had also worked for Witherspoon Body Shop and liked helping his boys work in the fields. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking and gardening. Eugene was a member of Vermilion Heights Christian Church where he had served as the Sunday School Superintendent and as an Elder. He was also involved as a Scout Leader with Boy Scout Troop #97. Most of all, Eugene loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. A service to celebrate the life of Eugene Huls will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Vermilion Heights Christian Church in Danville. Pastor Rod Godley will officiate. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, June 17 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home in Danville. Memorials may be made to Vermilion Heights Christian Church, or to the W.G. Murray Center Home for the Handicapped in Centralia, IL.
