Eugene 'Gene' Bland

Eugene Gene F. Bland, 74, of Tilton, passed this Life at 7:56am on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born in Danville, on July 29, 1935, the son of Walter and Esther (Wichman) Bland. Gene is survived by his three sons, Michael (Jaclyn) Bland of Danville, Steven (Stephanie) Bland of Danville, and Scott Oden (Debbie) Bland of Danville. His ten grandchildren, Michael Hunter, Joshua Bland, Summer Bland, Sabrina Bland, Angelia Poznanski, Michelle Wallace, Melissa DuVall, Scotty Bland, Beth Bland, Heather Bland, his great-granddaughter, Payton DuVall, several other of his great-grandchildren, two brothers, Robert (Charlotte) Bland of Rantoul, William (Sally) Bland of Danville, and his sister, Virginia Highley of Springfield, MO, survive him. His parents precede Gene in death. Gene was a member of the Second Church of Christ in Danville and enjoyed garage sales, and watching and cheering for the Illini. He will be missed by all that knew him. Per Genes wishes, cremation rites will be handled by Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center. No visitation or services will be scheduled at this time.
