B. Ethelyn Shade, 88, of Danville, passed away at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 at North Logan Healthcare in Danville. She was born on January 14th, 1922 in Veedersburg, Indiana, the daughter of Ernest and Dottie (Boord) Hesler. She married William Shade Jr. on January 15th, 1944. He preceded her in death on August 16th, 1985. She is survived by a daughter- Karen (Thomas) Gummere of Danville; brother- Dean (Dodgie) Hesler of Danville; three grandchildren- Tim (Tammy Anderson) Gummere of Danville, Ernie (Crystal) Gummere of Westville and Grace (Hank) Judd Jr. of Danville; five great-grandchildren- Tiffany (Lance) Becker of Danville, Joey Gummere of Danville, Morgan Gummere of Westville, Weston Judd and Lucas Judd both of Danville; great-great granddaughter-London Becker of Danville; two nieces- Cheryl Winland and Rita Dalbey both of Danville; two nephews- Brad Hesler of Danville and Greg Hesler of Georgetown; and three great-nephews, four great-nieces and one great-great niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant great-grandson-Heath Judd and one great-nephew-Justin. Ethelyn graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1940. She worked as a bookkeeper at Hurletron in Danville and later at Kraus Dental Lab in Peoria. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, formerly the Vermilion Heights Methodist Church, where she was active in the UMW at the church. She was also a volunteer at CRIS Senior Services. She enjoyed playing bingo and card games with her best friends-Mary Spencer and Kathy Foster. The family would like to have a special thanks to Terry Davis and Kathy Griffin who was always there to help. A Celebration of the life of Ethelyn Shade will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28th, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Peg Emmert officiating. Burial will follow the service in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro, Indiana. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
