Ethel Mae McElhaney Billings, 84 of Danville, passed away at 7:00am, on Saturday Feb.25, 2006 at the Carle Hospital Emergency Room, in Urbana IL. Ethel was born on April 30, 1921 to James Franklin & Ollie Mae Taylor McElhaney. She attended Danville schools, and was a member of the Second Church of Christ. Ethel had worked at the hair pin factory and later worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital retiring in 1990. On May 17, 1938 she married the love of her life, William Wesley Billings in Covington Indiana. He preceded her in death on Nov.26, 1979. Ethel and Bill had a daughter named Evelyn who was born in 1939, but passed away in 1952. They later adopted a daughter, Susan Elizabeth, and she survives. Also preceding her in death besides her husband and daughter, are her parents, three sisters, three brothers, and also all of her husbands siblings. Ethel is survived by her daughter Susan Elizabeth (Scott M.) Poyner of Danville, her only grandson Wesley Eugene Billings-Wilson, also of Danville; nieces, Ilene (Kenneth) Smith of West Lebanon IN, Carolyn Hambright of Danville, and Mako Poll of Seattle WA.; nephews, Cedric (Karen) Billings of Littleton Colo., Allen (Nancy) Billings of Gilbert AZ., James McElhaney, and Charles McElhaney both of Dunnellon FL.; and many special friends, Linda Phillips of Danville, Lil and Dick Rodeffer of Catlin IL,Toni Brutlag of Petersburg, IL, Kathy and Kenny Parsons of Danville, Ron and Jan Garland of Danville, Bob and Carolyn and Jennifer Deck of Attica, IN, Jeff Wilson of Mahomet, IL, Charles and Donna Poyner of Catlin, IL, and Skip and Barb Gerts of Champaign, IL. Ethel enjoyed going to Las Vegas for many years with her sister and friends. Also spending many countless hours with her wiener dogs over the years, and also enjoyed spending time with her grandson Wes in all the things he was doing, she was very proud of him for everything he did. Visitation for Ethel will be from 4 to 8pm on Monday February 27, 2006 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville. Funeral Services will be at 10 am on Tuesday February 28, 2006 at the funeral home, with Raymie Gordon officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
