Ethel M. Hancock, 85, of Westville, died at 11:37 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2006, at Provena U.S.M.C. in Danville. Ethel was born July 2, 1921, in Bedford, IN, the daughter of William F. and Lela (Thurman) Yaney. She married Stanley Hancock on June 24, 1958 in Danville. He survives. Ethel is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Kay Mowers of Ridge Farm, IL; a step-son Terry Hancock of Socorro, NM; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren; one step-grandchild; one brother Joseph Robert (Shirley) Yaney of Bedford, IN and one sister, Katie Mable Carlson of Monette, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Glenn, Tommy, and William. Ethel had worked as a bookkeeper at Beard Ice Company for 10 years and Stone City Machine and Tool Company in Bedford, IN for many years. She loved to cook and shop, as well as bowling. Ethel enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of the DAV Auxillery. Per Ethels wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no services.
