Ethel Hatfield DeMoss, 85, of Danville, passed away at 2:20 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2007 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Ethel was born on October 9, 1921 in Penfield, Illinois, the daughter of Ernest and Vernie Mac (Thomas) Hatfield. She married Gerald DeMoss on May 15, 1939 in the home of Rev. Bert Talcot in Danville. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1993. She is survived by her one son- Paul DeMoss of Mahomet, Illinois; five grandchildren- Shani, Shelli, Shannon, Rebecca, and Herbie; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson, Jayden; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son- Leroy DeMoss, one daughter- Phyllis DeMoss Fullerton, two brothers- Fred and Veston Hatfield, and one sister- Mable Hatfield Jones. Ethel worked for several years as a seamstress and wrote articles for the Oakwood News. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Ethel was a coordinator for Easter Star in Oakwood for several years. Ethel loved rummage sales and traveling to the Grand Ole Opry, Branson and anywhere else. She enjoyed sewing and loved making candy and jam. Ethel was a great cook and loved cooking and baking for all of the family. She enjoyed mowing her yard on her riding lawn mower and getting a suntan. Her kind hands and loving smile will be missed by all. A Celebration of the Life of Ethel Hatfield DeMoss will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2007 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel, with Rev. Jerry Cummings officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 " 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Oakwood. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove in Oakwood.
