Ethel Dalbey Mauck, 93, of Danville passed away at 5:10 P.M., Sunday, April 2, 2006, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman, IL. Mrs. Mauck, a former school teacher, was born April 7, 1912, in Muncie IL to Ira P. and Minnie (Sperry) Dalbey. She married Harvey B. Mauck on June 20, 1941, at Morganfield, KY. He survives. They lived in Danville all of their 64 years of marriage. Ethel is also survived by a daughter, Mary Louise (Jim) Pate of Danville, one grandson, Brian Pate of Peoria, a sister, Norma J. Marsh of Urbana and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Gerald, Frank, and Lee, and three sisters, Ercel Mapes, Opal Campbell, and Berniece McPherson. After graduating from Oakwood Township High School in 1930, she attended Illinois state University and eastern Illinois University to become a teacher. She taught at small county schools and later taught kindergarten in Danville and was instrumental in making kindergarten a part of district #118. Mrs. Mauck was a member of St.James United Methodist Church and was active in its womens organizations for many years. Ethel loved her home and family; she enjoyed music, flower gardening, and sewing, and especially adored her grandson.
