Dana, Ind. - Esther Vandevender, 82, a resident of the Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton, Indiana and formerly of rural Dana, passed away at 7:40 a.m. EDT Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Vermillion Convalescent Center.
She was born February 19, 1935 in Vermillion County, Indiana the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Pribble) Vandevender.
Survivors include two sisters, Kathleen "Kat" Hawn and Irene (Gayle) Dixon both of Dana, Indiana; two brothers, Charles (Mary) Vandevender of Dana, Indiana and LeRoy (Elizabeth) Vandevender of Hutsonville, Illinois, along with several nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her twin brother, Lester Pearl Vandevender; brother, Floyd "Pete" Vandevender and best friend and sister, Margaret J. Vandevender.
Esther was a 1953 graduate of Cayuga High School. She retired from Morris Flamingo in Danville, Illinois and attended Lindsay Chapel in rural Cayuga, Indiana.
Graveside service and burial: 10:30 a.m. EDT (Indiana) Saturday, July 22, 2017 at McKendree Cemetery in rural Georgetown, Illinois. There will be no visitation. Contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity. DeVerter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
