Esther L. Meek, 92, of Savoy, IL, formerly of Georgetown, passed away Sunday night, September 27, 2009 at Carle Arbors in Savoy. Mrs. Meek was born on March 5, 1917, in Linton, IN, the daughter of Mr. Eli W. Corbin and Mrs. Frederica E. (Kramer) Corbin. On December 11, 1941, Esther married Mr. Robert H. Meek in Linton, IN. He preceded her in death in August 1991. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ellen Cook (Husband Roger) of Fisher, IL, 2 grandsons, Shawn Cook of Mahomet, IL, Dustin Cook (wife Kelly), of Chicago, IL, and 2 great-grandson, Jordan and Hunter Cook-Anderson. Her parents and three brothers precede Esther in death. Esther was a graduate of Linton-Stockton High School. She was a member of the former Central Park United Methodist Church in Tilton, and currently a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Danville. Esther was a homemaker, and also helped her husband, Robert, operate the Laundromat that they owed just south of the Memorial Bridge in Danville for twelve years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and quilting. A Celebration of Esthers Life will begin at 7:00pm on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor James Blue. Interment will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorial condolences may be made in Esthers name to the donors favorite charity.
