Esther K. Kinderman

Newport, Ind. - Esther K. Kinderman, 97, of Newport, passed away at 6:47 p.m. EDT Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Clinton Gardens in Clinton, Indiana. She was born May 30, 1916 in Hillsdale, Indiana, the daughter of the late Sam and Cecile Dodson Johnson. She married Ray D. Russell in 1959 at Cayuga, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 1962. She later married Ralph Kinderman on March 22,1963 in Cayuga, Indiana. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1976. Survivors include her children, Carolyn(Paul)Peer of West Lebanon, Indiana; Cleola(Ronnie)Short of Hillsdale, Indiana; Jackie Roderick and Robert(Dail)Henry both of Newport, Indiana; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one sister, Velma Warner of Michigan City, Indiana. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Miller; one grandson; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Cora Mae Bauge and Lela Natale; one brother, Lawrence Johnson; her maternal grandparents, William Henry and Elma Mendenall Dodson and her paternal grandparents, Peter Wilson and Jennie Dexter Johnson. Esther was a homemaker. She attended the United Methodist Church. Esther enjoyed bowling and spending time with her family. Visitation: 3 to 4 p.m. EDT Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Graveside services and burial immediately following visitation at Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Officiating: Lewis Stein, Jr.
