Esther Jean Dodson

Newport, Ind. - Esther Jean Dodson, 71, of Newport, passed away at 2:42 p.m. EST Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at her residence. She was born on February 12, 1945, the daughter of the late Lanie L. and Dora Esther (Mack) Johnson. She married David Allen Dodson on August 8, 1962 in Rosedale, Indiana. He survives. Other survivors include her children, Dora (Steve) High of Newport, Indiana; Dean (Susan) Dodson of Danville, Illinois; Darla (Jim) Pollard of Dana, Indiana and Ruth (Fred) Staub of Georgetown, Illinois; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one sister, Carol (Daniel) Fannin of Louisa, Kentucky; three brothers, Jerry (Sharon) Johnson of Hegler, Illinois; Lanie (Karen) Johnson of Bloomingdale, Indiana and Ronnie (Karen) Johnson of Tangier, Indiana; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Jean formerly worked as a CNA at Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton, Indiana. She was a 1962 graduate of Rosedale High School. Jean enjoyed raising flowers, baking and reading. Funeral services: Friday, March 11, 2016 at 2 p.m. EST at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Dean High; Burial: Michael Cemetery in Indianola, Illinois; Visitation: 1 p.m. EST, Friday, March 11, 2016 until time of services.
