God saw that he was getting tired, not a cure to be, so he put his arms around him and whispered, come with me, it broke our hearts to lose him but he didnt go alone for part of us went with him the day God called him home. Ervin V. White, 87, of Tilton, passed away at 5:30am on Monday, December 8, 2008 at Provena USMC in Danville. He was born on December 18, 1920, in Indianola, IL, the son of William F. and Ruth (McCorkle) White. Both deceased. On July 5, 1941, Ervin married Virginia Cosat in St.Louis, Mo. She survives along with their 3 sons, Bill (JoAnne) White of Ky, Denny White of Tenn, and Steve (Connie) White of Tenn. Ervin is also survived by his eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and his sister, Dorothy (Jim) Fuller of Champaign. His 3 sisters and 2 brothers precede Ervin in death. Ervin was a 32nd degree life member of the Anchor Masonic Lodge, the painters local #363 in Champaign, having retired in 1980 as a painter in the housing department at the U of I in Champaign, and a member of the Circle 21 CB Club. He served 28 months in the United States Army, 24 of those months in the South Pacific Theater, during WWII, having received four bronze stars for he campaigns. Ervin enjoyed fishing, listening to the CB Radio, while using his C.B. handle Detonator, which was taken from one of his former jobs will stationed in the South Pacific. Ervin was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and looked forward to seeing all the family at the reunions every year. The family of Ervin White would like to give a special thanks to Sherry Walsh and Pastor Marvin McCormick for all the time they spent with Ervin.
