Ernest Hires, 61, of Chrisman, passed away at 3:10pm, Saturday, January 29, 2022, at IU Health Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on March 11, 1960, in Dover, Delaware. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kimberly Troxel, on June 29, 1985. She will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his parents, Richard (Nancy) Hires of Paris and Karen (Lou) Vacherlon of Chrisman; his children, Nichole (Thomas) Henson of Chrisman, Eric (Heather) Hires of Riley, IN, & Chad (Cierria) Hires of Chrisman; his grandchildren, Briston, Kinzli, Easton, Greyson, Granger, & Rayleigh; and his sister, Terri Young of Chrisman. Ernie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting turkey, deer, & pheasants as well as mushrooms. He was well-known for his big trophy deer he harvested in 1994. When it wasnt a season for hunting, he liked to garden and prepare for the next hunting season. He cherished his family and referred to his kids and grandkids as the "light of his life". His legacy will live on in the many wonderful memories made with them during his life and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Ernies life will be held at 12:00pm, Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Troy Warner officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00am to 12:00pm on Tuesday prior to his service at the funeral home.
