Erma Lucille Ballard

Erma Lucille (McKinney) Ballard, 94, of Champaign, passed away at her home on Monday, August 5, 2024, with her daughter by her side. Erma was born in Clay City, IL on December 2, 1929, the daughter of Harry and Isabel (Barker) McKinney. On December 27, 1947, Erma married the love of her life, Ferril Eugene Ballard, and they spent 40 wonderful years together before his passing on December 28, 1987.

Together Erma and Ferril had one child, Eva Faye Ballard, she survives.

Erma is preceded in death by her parents, husband; 3 sisters, Ina DeLoach, Dorothy Tipton, Letha Hooker, and 1 brother, Loren McKinney.

Erma was a devoted member of Faith Baptist Church in Champaign. Throughout her life Erma worked as a beautician, a Secretary for Illinois Power, and as a partner with her husband in Ballard Shoe Repair for 40 years.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of meeting her.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Homes Champaign Chapel, located at 710 N. Neil St. in Champaign, IL. A funeral service will take place the next day, Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 10:00 am at Sunset Funeral Homes Champaign Chapel. Erma will be placed to rest at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign.
