Erik D. Howie

Danville – Erik Dale Howie, 56, of Terre Haute, IN, formerly of Danville, IL, passed away at 9:43 AM on Friday, January 30, 2026. He was born November 20, 1969, in Danville to Samuel and Mary Katherine (Reddy) Howie.

Also surviving are his two children, Karolina Howie of Tilton, and Samuel (Madisyn) Howie of Royal; and their mother Ellen Howie; five siblings, Tamie (James) Kincade, Kay (Gary) McCree, Ray Howie, Kim (Dale) Pinegar, and Nathan (Michelle) Howie.

He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Cheryl (John) Brown, and his maternal grandparents, Bob and Irene Reddy.

After graduating from Oakwood High School, Erik served his country by enlisting in the United States Marines. He later became a CNA and worked for various health care organizations. Erik was a long-time Philadelphia Eagles fan but will be remembered by those that knew him for his ability to make people laugh. His quick wit and humor meant he always had a joke or comment that would put a smile on people’s faces.

Erik will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Danville National Cemetery in Danville, IL, with military honors performed by the American Legion Post #210. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834 has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorials in his name may be made to the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville.
