Eric Brooks

Eric Brooks, 46, of Georgetown, passed away at 2:37am, Saturday, January 5, 2019, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville. He was born on April 21, 1972, in Danville the son of Bobby Joe and Phyllis {Mollett} Brooks, both deceased. He was married to Karla Ehlenfeld in 2015. She survives.

He is also survived by: his children, Jordan Taylor, Lexi Brooks, & Ethan Brooks, all of Danville; his step-children, Christopher Ehlenfeld of Ridge Farm & Joshua Stahl of Georgetown; his sister, Robin (Doug) Wadsworth of Georgetown; his nephews, Brandon Brooks of Mahomet, Blake (Haleigh) Wadsworth of Westville, & Brooks Wadsworth of Indianapolis; his granddaughter, Journey Cooper and a grandson on the way, who he was going to "teach him all about sports"; and his mother-in-law, Carolyn Ehlenfeld. He was preceded in death by: his brothers, Tim his nephew, Kyle Brooks; and his father-in-law, Harry Ehlenfeld.

Eric was known to many as the "Dish Man" as he had worked for Dish Network. He enjoyed sports of all kinds including golf, baseball, & basketball. He was a big fan of Chicago Cubs, Illini, and Chicago Bears. He played with the Vermilion Voles Vintage Baseball Club and was a frequent player for the annual Nostalgia Basketball Game in Georgetown. Erics favorite movie was "Tombstone" and was always quoting it. He enjoyed going to theme parks and especially riding the roller coasters. He also loved singing and playing in bands. Eric was very proud of his children and was honored to be a husband, father, and a grandpa. He was a kind and loving person who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Erics life will be held 10:00am, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown, with Pastor Jerry Silver to officiate. Visitation will be 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday January 11,2019 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to his family to assist with final expenses or The Diabetes Association.
