Emma Sloan

Emma Lou (Shelby) Sloan, 80, passed away peacefully at 8:55am on Monday, March 6, 2017 She was born in Matthews MO, November 15, 1936, the daughter of Charles and Nell(Rather) Shelby. She will be dearly missed by friends and family, her 6 daughters Cheryl Walker of Anderson, IN, Pam (John) Mosley of Jacksonville FL, Paula (Johnnie) Scott of Daleville IN, Susan Lipscomb of Phoenix AZ, Jackie Fenske of Albuquerque NM, Christina Pett of Champaign IL, grandchildren, Jason, Matthew (Kristy), Steven, Brandon, Cortney (Joseph), Nicholas, Cody, Emma, John Jr (Amanda), Hannah, Ashley; and nine great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Emma was preceded in death by two son-in-law's Matthew Lipscomb and Jerry Fenske, three brothers, Lee, Carl, Marvin and a sister Ruth. Emma loved to spend time with her family and friends. She loved to cook for them and no one ever left mom's house hungry. She was the St. Louis Cardinals #1 fan. She loved baseball. She was truly loved by everyone who knew her. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene of Champaign. Her devotion to her family and her belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. A Celebration of Emma's life will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil Street, Champaign, Francis Warren will be officiating the service.
