Emma Buckham

Emma L. Buckham, 90, of Danville, passed away at 2:50pm on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. She was born on January 13 1921, in Palatine, IL, the daughter of William and Emma (Heob) Steffen. Both are deceased. She married Richard D. Buckham, on July 7, 1942, until his passing in 1970. Survivors include three sons, Richard (Barbara) Buckham of Washington, Robert (Gwendy) Buckham of Chester, IL, and Rodney (Micki) Buckham of Grape Creek, IL. Her five grandchildren, Tammy Buckham, Christie (Jimmy) Hall, Misty Maklad, Jennifer Booth, and Eric Buckham. Six great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Brown, Raven Hill, Brandon Cottol, Zane Hill, Naomi Booth, Nathan Booth, and her two sisters, Juanita Pyle of Vicksburg, MISS., and Virginia Hardt, of Minneapolis, MN also survive her. In addition to her parents, and husband, Richard, her three brothers, Harold, William, Paul Ray, and her sister, Dorothy Konstant preceded Emma in death. Emma enjoyed being a home maker, but she also worked outside the home, for Steel-Grip, as well as cleaning houses. She enjoyed her garden her animals, and family. She will be missed by all that knew her. The Buckhman family would like to thank Roberta Ritter and the staff at Colonial Manor Nursing Home for their help and support. A Celebration of the Life of Emma L. Buckham will begin at 10:00am on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville, with burial to take place at Springhill Cemetery following the service. Pastor James Blue has been asked to officiate. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-7pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the March of Dimes, and/or the Vermilion County Animal Shelter Foundation.
