Emily Lorenz, 76, of Danville, passed away Tuesday evening, April 5, 2011 at the Hawthorne Inn of Danville. She was born on November 14, 1934, in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Eric and Callie (Menschke) Krentz. She married Vernon E. Lorenz Sr., in 1956 until his passing in 1990. She is survived and will be missed by her children: Vernon E. Lorenz Jr. (Julie) of Avon, IN, Karen Hansen (Ken) of Springfield, IL, Susan Niahm (Andy) of Champaign, IL, and Diana Gernand (Bob) of Danville, IL. Her nine grandchildren: Marissa, Tyler, Rebecca, Sarah, Russell, Christian, Rachel, Callie, Joshua, two brothers, Paul Krentz (Glee) of Waynesville, Ohio, Carl Krentz (Vi) of LaPorte, IN, three sisters: Evy Harmon (Ron) of Phoenix, AZ, Annette Larson (Richard) of Geneva, IL, and Ellen Pennekamp (Gene) of Atchison, Kansas, also survives her. In addition to her husband, her parents also preceded Emily in death. Emily was a graduate of the Chicago Nursing School in Chicago, IL, and was employed with the former Lakeview Medical Center in Danville. She finished her nursing career, working with Dr. Mason, and Dr. Rohos, retiring at the age of 72 from the Carle Clinic in Danville. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville, and cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and family. She will be missed by all that knew her. A Celebration of Life Service for Emily Lorenz will begin at 10:00am on Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church located at 824 East Main Street in Danville with burial to follow at Lutheran Cemetery. Pastor Kent Tibben has been asked to officiate the service. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-8pm on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. The family has asked that all donations be made in Emilys name to either the Trinity Lutheran Church, and/or Danville Lutheran School.
