Emily Frances Johnson (Frances) passed away on July 30, 2009, in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was born in Newell Township, Vermilion County, on June 7, 1919, the daughter of Oscar and Rebecca Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Warner and Clark Johnson. She is survived by her sister, Betty Johnson of New Castle, Indiana; three nieces, R'Lou Ellson (Don) of Hampstead, North Carolina, Sara Elliott (Gene) of Spiceland, Indiana, Carol Rubsam (Ray) of Olathe, Kansas; and two nephews, Mike Johnson (Thalia) of Washington, DC, and Gary Johnson (Stephanie) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Miss Johnson spent most of her life in Danville, caring for her invalid mother for more than 57 years. She worked at Sears Roebuck for 31 years. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Danville, was an avid gardener, enjoyed interior decorating, and was seriously involved in sketching and oil painting as a young woman. She was a loving and generous aunt to her nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Hank Anderson on Wednesday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Corner Cemetery in Danville. Funeral arrangements are being made by Sunset Funeral Home.
