GEORGETOWN - Elvis Black, 77, of Georgetown, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Monday November 14, 2005, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Elvis was born on March 11, 1928, in Norris City, IL, the son of Levi A. and Chloe Hill Black. The family moved to Danville when he was an infant; he attended Danville schools, graduating from Danville High School in 1946. Elvis married Sallie Schecter in Mattoon on January 2, 1949. Survivors include his wife, Sallie; a son, Ken, of Georgetown, and his children Garrett of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Cassidy Spesard and her husband, Joe, of Paris, IL; a daughter, Jean Wilson, and her son, Ross, both of Georgetown; a brother, David, and his wife, Deana, of Georgetown, and their daughters, Rhonda Sigler, and her husband Chris, and their son, Ashton Sigler, and Cheryl Ireland and her husband, Corey. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son. He and his father owned and operated Blacks appliance in Georgetown for a number of years. He retired from Hurletron in Danville in 1992. One of his greatest enjoyments in retirement was helping Ken with the harvest. He was a musician in the Big Band era, playing with many of the areas major bands for nearly thirty years. A celebration of Elvis life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday November 18, 2005 at Sunsets Houghton Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West St. in Georgetown. Rev. James Blue will officiate, and burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday November 17, 2005 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated for the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery fund
