Elva Josephine (Josie) Robertson Kern formerly of Olivet, Illinois went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Newman Rehabilitation Center in Newman, Illinois. Josie was born in Georgetown, IL to Clarence and Nettie Robertson on January 20, 1938. She went to Georgetown High School. She married Robert Dean Kern on July 30, 1993 in Olivet, IL. He proceeded her in death on January 10, 2003. Josie was a homemaker and worked several years at Steel Grip in Danville, Illinois. She was a member of the Olivet Nazarene Church. Survivors include seven children Rhonda (Randy) Berlin, Hume, Illinois; Debra (Mark) Kincaid, Sidell, Illinois; Eugene (Brenda) Galey, Parsons, Tennessee; David (Diane) Galey, Winchester, Indiana; Robert (Sharon) Galey, Ellabell, Georgia; Anita Dorene (Mark) McCollum, Arthur, Illinois; Jamie (Jeff) Jumps-Robertson, Hillsdale, Indiana and their father. Six step children Gene (Julie) Kern, Paragould, Arizona, Richard Kern, Cleveland, Ohio; Wesley (Brenda) Kern, Shiloh, Illinois; Teresa (Herb) Norton, Westville, Illinois; Penny (Jeff) Davis, Dana, Indiana; Monte Kern, Dana, Indiana. Sixteen Grandchildren, Seventeen Great Grandchildren, Fifteen Step Grandchildren and Thirty-Five Step Great Grandchildren and One Great-Great Step Grandson. Seven siblings Mary Helen Reed, Danville, Illinois; Harvey (Lynn) Robertson, Danville, Illinois; Claude (Eileen) Robertson, Georgetown, Illinois; Leo (Emily) Robertson, Coos Bay, Oregon; Lawrence Robertson, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Elsie Lorene Luce, Peachtree, Georgia; Herman (Hazel) Robertson, Manteca, California. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Dean Kern; parents Clarence (Nettie Kinney) Robertson; sister Alberta Bardell and a son-in-law William Jumps. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Newman Rehabilitation Center for their support in her final days. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 East West Street, Georgetown. Pastor James Blue will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Georgetown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations can be made to the Olivet Church of the Nazarene.
