Elsie M. Chantos, 99, of Eustis, FL, formerly of Georgetown, passed away on Saturday, October 18th, 2008, at Waterman Village, Mt. Dora, FL. She was born on December 17th, 1908, in Georgetown, the daughter of Everett and Edith (Felgenhauer) Byerly. She was united in marriage to John Andrew Chantos on August 18, 1931, in Westville until his passing in 1962. Survivors include: her son, John K. (Cally) Chantos of Eustis, FL; her grandchildren, Craig (Donna) Chantos of Old Hickory, TN, Candy (Matthew) Straus of Heathrow, FL, & Crystal (Phil Amari) Chantos of Longwood, FL; her great grandchildren, Taylor Straus & Bradley Straus; her nephew, David Byerly of Champaign, IL; her niece, Sandy (Jack) Stephenson of Georgetown; her great neice, Amy (Tim) Steeples and their son, Cody. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her two brothers, Richard & Russell; and her sister, Florence Campbell. Elsie was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking. She also enjoyed solving puzzles, playing cards and crafts. She was a member of the Georgetown United Methodist Church. She was also a former president of the Georgetown High School Band Association. She loved spending time with her son and grandkids. A celebration of Elsies life will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, October 23, 2008, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville. Pastor Joyce Wright will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8pm, Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at the funeral chapel. She will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in Elsies name to Georgetown United Methodist Church or to Hospice Foundation of Lake Sumter, INC., 12300 Lane Park Rd, Tavares, FL, 32778-9972. Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements.
