Urbana - Elsie Eileen Tokoly, 96, of Urbana, formerly of Champaign, died at 4:45 AM on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Champaign County Nursing Home. Mrs. Tokoly was born December 5, 1919 in Slater, Missouri, the daughter of Vera Christine Rek Tennill and William Tennill. She and her family moved to Paris, Pana, and then to Robinson, Illinois where she graduated from high school in 1937. She married Frank J. Tokoly, her childhood sweetheart on August 17, 1942. Mrs. Tokoly worked for Woolworth's store for almost 19 years before moving to Champaign in 1956. Since that time, she had been a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Tokoly in 2007, her parents, a brother William Tennill, and a sister Betty Tennill Adams. She is survived by a niece, great niece, cousins, and good friends. She enjoyed gardening, listening to talk radio shows, and discussing politics. She was an avid reader. Private graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Roselawn Cemetery in Champaign, IL. Father Robert Rayson, pastor at St. Matthew Catholic Church will officiate. There will be no visitation. Sunset's Champaign-Urbana Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Parish Nurse Ministry, 1303 Lincolnshire Drive, Champaign, IL 61821.
