Elsie Cook, 94, was reunited with her husband, son, 2 grandsons, sisters, brothers, and many others on February 3, 2026.
In the past few weeks Elsie was able to see and love on all of her grandchildren; Amy Johnson, Brad (Danica) Hayes, Michelle (Justin) Wiersema, Sara Cook, Steve (Sarah) Cook, Erin (Brodie) Meeker, Tony (Katie) Brooks, Olivia (TJ) Sugimoto, and Victoria (Jake) Gamper. Also included in those she "loved on" whenever possible is 17 great grandchildren and she was even blessed with great great grandchildren.
Elsie Haworth was married to Phil Cook on Valentine's Day of 1953. They had 3 children; Pam (Steve Pearson) Sembar, Penny (Bob) Jurczak and Steve (Bonita) Cook. Later she "finished raising" Pete Donaldson who became family.
Elsie had responsibilities at an early age taking care of "the boys" and her invalid grandmother. During her teens she worked in town setting up pins at the bowling alley. Elsie worked at General Electric and the Plastic Factory. She and Phil also owned and operated the car wash and bait shop North of Georgetown.
She became very close to her nieces and nephews after her siblings passed, she was able to help fill the void that was left. When asked why she never dated or went out with friends she would say, "I don't need to, I have family."
She enjoyed going to sporting events the kids were involved in, working in her yard and watching the birds. She looked forward to golf cart rides, talking about the past, and sitting on her porch. All of her family knew not to call during a Bears or Illini game.
The family would go to her with questions but knew if you didn't want the blunt truth, then don't ask. She was known as a quiet sweet old lady who kept her yard and flowers beautiful. Her family knew her as their ornery Granny and you never knew what would come out of her mouth.
She will be missed and loved by all that knew her. She is no longer in pain....LET THE SHENANIGANS BEGIN!
