Eloise Smith-Mccracken

Eloise Smith-McCracken, 99, of Covington, IN, passed away at 7:23 AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the Williamsport Nursing Home. She was born April 6, 1925, in Foster, Indiana, the daughter of Russell and Grace Patton. She married William Russell Smith on June 27, 1944, at the Benson Chapel in Covington, Indiana. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include her four children, Sharon (Joe) Price of Williamsport, Thomas (Penny) Smith of Covington, Rick (Cathy) Smith of Covington, and Julie (Tad) Arensult of North Carolina; 1 sister, Annalea Housler of Covington,12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother.

Eloise was a graduate of Covington High School and spent most of her life as a homemaker as well as helping her husband on the family farm. She attended Benson Chapel for many years, and most recently was a member of the 2nd Church of Christ in Danville. She will be missed by all of her family.

A celebration of Eloises life will be held at 2:00 pm (EST) on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home, Covington Chapel, 420 3rd St. Covington, IN 47932, with Dale DeNeal officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Monday prior to services. Following the service, she will be laid to rest next to her late husband at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington, IN.
