Elmer Leroy Alcorn Elmer Leroy Alcorn, 86, of Danville, passed away unexpectantly at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2007, at Hawthorne Inn in Danville where he had been rehabilitating from a fall. Elmer was born July 8, 1920, in Moline, IL, the son of Jonah E. and Minnie B. Alcorn. He married Viola Lindberg on September 18, 1947 in Catlin, IL. She survives. Elmer is survived by a son, Vaughn and his wife Saundra Alcorn of Danville; a brother, Lamoine Alcorn of Danville; a sister, Ardith Cheuvront of Tilton, IL; two grandchildren, Austin and Autumn Alcorn and several nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. Elmer had attended Danville Schools. After returning from the war, where he served with the U.S. Army, Elmer soon joined Illinois Power Company as a gas service technician retiring after 37 years of service with them. After retirement he and Viola unselfishly spent their time caring for others. Elmer also enjoyed taking the grandchildren to and from school each day. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of Elmers life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 16, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastors Glen Huffman and Doug Hargrave officiating. Burial will be at Oakridge Cemetery in Catlin. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at the funeral home.
