Elmer J. Reifsteck

Elmer J. Reifsteck, 101, of Danville, IL passed away on February 23, 2017 at Hawthorne Inn Nursing Home in Danville. Elmer was born on September 15, 1915, the son of Jacob and Minnie (Koss) Reifsteck. He married Virginia A. Blackmore in Danville, IL on February 2, 1947, she preceded him in death in 2011. He is survived by sons, Ronald (Cheryl) Reifsteck and Russell (Jackie) Reifsteck both of Danville; daughters, Marilyn (Stephen) Frank of Bourbonnais; daughter-in-law Wanda Reifsteck of Alvin, IL; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son, David Reifsteck; infant daughter, Barbara Reifsteck; 3 brothers, Frank, Chester, Edward Reifsteck; 4 sisters, Carrie Messman, Anna Messman, Irene Ritter and Esther Doehring. Elmer served in the US Army, he is a WWII Veteran, serving as a medical technician. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville. He farmed the family farm for nearly 50 years, retiring in the early 90s. He loved playing Euchre and traveling with Virginia. He especially enjoyed the activities and sports his grandchildren participated in. Visitation will be 1-3 PM on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Street, Danville, IL. Funeral Service will be on Monday at 10 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church 824 East Main Street Danville, IL with Pastor Kent Tibben officiating. Burial will take place at Craw Cemetery in Sadorus, IL.
