Elmer A. Swisher

Cayuga, Ind. - Elmer A. Swisher, 81, of Cayuga, passed away at 5:50 a.m. CDT Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, Illinois. Elmer was born on May 30, 1933 in Danville, Illinois the son of the late Elmer W. and Mabel Windsor Swisher. He married Dora E. "Libby" Bailey on November 7, 1976 in Danville, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Toni M. Swisher of Danville, Illinois; step daughter, Jannifer(Steven)Steward of Williamsport, Indiana; two step sons, James D.(Fiancee` Sandee Hess)Holman of Danville, Illinois and Jeffery D. (Laura)Holman of Cayuga, Indiana; six grandchildren, James D. Holman II; Tyler S. Steward; Kevin A. Holman; Ryan J. Holman; Marci R. Holman and Desiree E. Steward; one great granddaughter, Paisleigh R. Holman; brother, Luke Swisher of Danville, Illinois and several nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. Elmer retired from Hyster in 2000 after thirtythree years, last working as a lift truck driver. Elmer was a graduate of Greensburg High School in Greensburg, Indiana. He was a former member of the Cayuga Volunteer Fire Department and a former softball umpire. He enjoyed listening to music, dancing, bowling, playing bingo and riding his motorcycle. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and most of all with his wife, Libby.
