Our beloved mother, Ellen A. Landers, 88, of Oakwood, passed away at 2:20 PM on November 19, 2013 at Champaign County Nursing Home. She was born in Beecher City, IL on February 15, 1925, the daughter of Lee and Anna Belle (Matson) Lilly. She married Raymond “Hallie” Landers on March 30, 1946 in Effingham, IL. Raymond preceded her in death after 52 years of marriage on March 30, 1998. She will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Julaine (Bill) Ingersoll of Bloomington, IL, Patricia (Don) Herron of Champaign, IL, one brother, Raymond Lilly of Beecher City, IL, grandchildren, Tori (Jerry) Roberson, Kathy (Gary) Davis, Barbara (Scott) Lindley, Christy (Frank) Deer, Amy (Kenny) Costa, and Andrea Ingersoll, great grandchildren, Bradlee Davis, Amanda (Tony) Garner, Alexis Roberson, Bryant Deer, Allie Roberson, Clayton Lindley, Jarod Roberson, Kristen Costa, Rylan Lindley, Cameron Costa, Lizzie Deer and Devan Roberson. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She worked at R&S Printing in Danville for many years then Colwell Printing in Champaign until retiring in the late 1970s. She was a member of the American Legion Womens Auxiliary, Fairmount Conservation Club, Sparkling Springs and Oakwood Christian Church. She was the kind of person that loved people and made friends at every turn. Ellen especially liked baking and taking food to all of her friends. She loved playing cards and collecting angels, family was the most important thing in her life; Ellen was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A celebration of Ellens life will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel with Pastor Patti Wise officiating. A time for friends and family to share memories with Ellens family will be from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Danville National Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Ellens name to the Champaign County Nursing Home or the charity of the donors choice.
