Ella Poggendorf

Ella D. Poggendorf, 95, of Danville passed away on January 28, 2008 at Provena USMC Logan Campus. Ella was born February 10, 1912 in Danville daughter of Chris J. and Johannah Nicklas Poggendorf. She is survived by several special cousins: Michael (Carol Ann) Courson, Carol J. Shelby of Summerfield, Fl, Kaye (Francis) Keenan of Brockport, NY, Perry Baldwin of Oakwood, IL, Janet Verhoeven of Oakwood, IL, Tim (Katrina) Verhoeven of Oakwood, IL, Virginia Fulk , Forrest Fulk of Riverside, CA, Keith (Carolann) Fulk of Annandale, VA, Art (Sallie) Nicklas of Plainfield, IL, Elmer (Sylvia) Nicklas of St. Joseph, IL, Janet Poggendorf of Kingman, AZ, Sharon (Rolland) Hanks of Kingman, AZ, Justine (James) Ackerman of New Haven, MI, Vickie (Don) Stacy of Lake Isabella, CA, and Mary Jo Mattia of Summerfield, FL. Devoted friends: Margaret Drews, Betty Burmeister, Delores Schult, Shirley Wilson, and Bonnie Walker. Her parents, a Sister, Emma C. Poggendorf, and an infant brother preceded her in death. Ella was a graduate of Danville Lutheran Schools and graduated from Danville High School in 1930. She had worked for Danville Jacket Co. and Rissmans Jacket Co. and later worked at Greene, Lowenstein & Hren Insurance Co. where she retired after 20 years. She was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville and taught Sunday school for 25 years, sang in the choir and was a member of the Women's Guild and the LWML Group. For a number of years. Ella enjoyed doing crafts and playing cards. A Celebration of Ellas Life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 4, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Pastor Dan Fienen officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
