Ella L. Crabtree

Cayuga, Ind. -- Ella L. Crabtree, 85, of Cayuga, passed away at 11:45 a.m. EDT Tuesday (September 19, 2006) at West Central Community Hospital in Clinton, Indiana. She was born July 8, 1921, in Dolton, Illinois, the daughter of the late George W. and Emma East Axtell. She married Lloyd Fred Crabtree on May 20, 1938 in Dolton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1984. Survivors include: three daughters, Sally Nelson of Munster, Indiana; Susan Mirowski of Dyer, Indiana and Molly(Paul)Barna of Cayuga, Indiana; two sons, John Crabtree of Webster, Indiana and Dennis(Jean)Crabtree of Cayuga, Indiana; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren; one sister, Peggy(John)Yoho of Eugene, Indiana; two brothers, Phillip(Jenny)Axtell and Tom(Joan)Axtell both of Eugene, Indiana. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Eddie Nelson, four brothers, Bobby, Jackie, Jimmy and Dickie Axtell; two sisters, Iris Vandevender and Frances Ann Weir; stepsister, Mary Axtell Briggs and a stepbrother, Eldred Axtell. Ella was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and raising flowers. She especially enjoyed her dogs. She was a member of the D.A.R., Veedersburg, Indiana Chapter. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Thursday, September 21, 2006 at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Andy Spencer; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation Noon EDT till time of services Thursday, September 21, 2006 at the funeral home.
