Elizabeth “Liz” VanDuyn, 75, of Pekin, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Liberty Village of Pekin.
She was born July 25, 1949, in Danville, Illinois, daughter of the late Russell and Pearl B. (Tibbs) Dolph.
Liz first married Roy Tibbetts Jr., and together they had three children. She later went on to marry Raymond “Jim” VanDuyn on March 30, 1996, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children: Wanda (Todd) High of Washington, Illinois; Buck (Kathy) Tibbetts of Clovis, New Mexico, and her stepchildren: Kelli (Kary) VanDuyn; Kenneth “Jay” (Mitzy) VanDuyn and Darren Vanduyn; her grandchildren: Rebecca (Corbin) Petersen, Derek (Amanda) High, Steven (Jenny) Tibbetts, Jalene Tyler, Nicole (Tracen) Rowland, Roy (Whitney) Tibbetts IV, and Destinee Sandri; eight great-grandchildren; her sisters: Violet Janosek, Loretta Greenlee and LaVerne Bean; along with several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Liz was preceded in death by one son: Roy Tibbetts III; one brother: Harold Dolph; and three sisters: Teletha Hundley, Dorothy Tinsley and Lois Lewis.
Liz worked for several years as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal service before retiring. She loved cooking, sewing and quilting, and she used those skills to bless her family and friends with many meals, and beautiful blankets over the years. Most of all, Liz loved spending time with her family.
A Celebration of Life for Liz will take place at 2PM on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Homes Urbas Chapel 414 S. State Street Westville, Illinois 61883. Visitation will be on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 12PM – 2PM at Sunset Funeral Homes Urbas Chapel in Westville. Burial will follow at Oakhill Cemetery.
