Elizabeth V. Sager

Elizabeth Viola Sager, 93, of Danville passed away at 3:18 am, Wednesday October 18, 2017, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born in White Hill, PA on November 03, 1923 to George Franklin and Susan Elizabeth (Fenicle) Hartzell. She married Merle "Johnnie" Sager Sr. on December 07, 1943 in Yocum Town, PA. Elizabeth is survived by three sons, Merle (Linda) Sager Jr., George (Dianna) Sager, and William (Brenda) Sager; two daughters, Twyla (Ralph) Gates and Mary Kay (Sam) Hearne; grandchildren, John Tosh, Twyla Sue Tosh, Susan Reid, Jessica Tosh, Brian Sager, Amanda Barney, Jennifer Sager, William Thomas Sager, Nicholas Sager, Andrew Hearne, Samantha Hearne, Jeni Schaefer, Janie Gray, Brianna Snoddy, and Brian Gates. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Susan Hartzell; her husband, Johnnie; and four brothers, George Hartzell, Elmer Evenger, Charlie Evenger, and Abe Hartzell. Elizabeth was part of the Red Hat Society, she went to TOPS, and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She loved card games and crafts, one of her favorite crafts was crocheting. Elizabeth was big in volunteering. She volunteered at the Westville School District in the Media Center. When she wasn't crocheting, or volunteering Elizabeth spent her free time with family and the people she loved. She especially loved her grandchildren and they loved her just as much. She will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10am on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Dave Garver and Major Sam Hearne. Burial will be in Potomac Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior from 9 to 10 am at the funeral home.
