Elizabeth Liz Lape, 78, of Danville, passed away at 10:15 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2008 at her home with her family by her side. Liz was born on March 10, 1929 in Arthur, Illinois, the daughter of Norman H. and Lilly Mae (Harmon) Gribbins. She married Dale E. Lape on January 13, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He survives. She is also survived by her son- Mike Blackwell of Seattle, Washington; two step-daughters- Deborah (Mike) Westjohn of Monticello, Illinois and Lisa (Dean) Dillion of Paxton, Illinois; two ste-grandchildren- Donnie Dillion and Gayle Ellen; two sisters- Gladys Steele of Springfield, Illinois and Aline (Dean) Lacy of Anthem, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and five sisters. Liz graduated from Oakwood High School in 1947. She later attended Danville Junior College. Liz worked as a travel consultant and a realtor in Danville for several years. She was associate realtor of the year in 1978. She was also a past member of the Altrusa Club and Mary Martha Circle at First Presbyterian Church. A Celebration of the Life of Elizabeth Liz Lape will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church in Danville, with Rev. Dr. Jimmy and Katie Hopper officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Entombment will be at Springhill Mausoleum following the service.
