Bismarck- Elizabeth K. Cunningham, 89, a resident of the Bismarck area for nearly 70 years, passed away at 3:30 AM on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. She was born on August 10, 1921 to Henry and Hazel Martin Kleiner. She married Dale R. Cunningham on August 9, 1941 in Danville. Surviving are two sons Jim (Jean) Cunningham of Covington, IN and Dan (Cindy) Cunningham of Bismarck, IL; five grandchildren Jason Cunningham, Christopher Cunningham, Megan (Heath) Leake, Cara (Lee) Kneer, and Kristen Hocking; four great-grandchildren Adisyn, Peyton, Kylan, and Haden; and sister in law Barbara Kleiner. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Urcel, and brother Cleo. Elizabeth was a member at the Walnut Corner Church and the Keenagers Senior Citizen Club. She was involved with the Vermilion County Extension and served on the Vermilion County Board of the Home and Community Education committee and the Bismarck Unit of the Home and Community Education committee. She was a homemaker who had lived on the farm her entire adult life. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening and traveling and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Elizabeth Cunningham will be held at 10 AM on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Herb Dale Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Walnut Corner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Thursday, September 30, also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Walnut Corner Church, Bismarck or to a charity of the donors choosing. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
