Urbana - Elizabeth Joanne Arie-Daguio, 82, of Urbana passed away at 4:40 AM on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Champaign County Nursing Home. She was born on May 27, 1933 in Urbana to Arthur Milton and Naomi Jesse (Knott) Good. She first married Jim Arie on February 5, 1955 in Urbana. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2000. She later married Ramon Daguio on June 3, 2006 in Urbana. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2007. She is survived by five children, Jim Arie of Barrington, IL, Jill (Tony) Blanck of Urbana, Joe Arie of Windermere, FL, Jerry Arie of Urbana, and Julie Arie of Champaign; a sister, Marion Mitziga of Munster, IN; nine grandchildren, Elise Blanck, Diana Arie, Sheryl Lake, Lindsey Chapman, Mark Arie, Scott Blanck, Allie Cimarusti, Eric Cimarusti, and Ryan Cimarusti; and six great-grandchildren, Kayla Chapman, Noelle DePouw, Jillian Chapman, Colton Lake, Nicholas Chapman, and Cora Lake. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by 8 sisters, a brother, and her parents. Joanne loved and was dedicated to her Catholic faith and volunteered at St. Patrick's Church for many years. She enjoyed preparing big family meals with her famous chicken and noodles and baking delicious treats and especially candy and cookie making at Christmas. Her favorite time of year was Christmas with decorating the inside and the outside of her house with the same sparkle she had in life. She was an avid creator with her hands, crocheting, cake decorating, sewing and giving handmade gifts. She supported her husband Jim's business, Bunny's Tavern, for many years until their retirement in 1991. She enjoyed traveling and visiting family. She was a big Fighting Illini basketball and football fan. She cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with such pride for all of them. She had the gift of being a caregiver to the littlest baby to any friends and family during their times of need. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday March 16, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Urbana. Father Joseph Baker will officiate. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9-11 AM, prior to Mass at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Sunset's Champaign-Urbana Chapel has been entrusted with the cremation.
