Danville, Ill. -- Elizabeth I. "Libby" Fortner, 84, of Danville and formerly of Cayuga, Indiana, passed away at 4:12 a.m. C.D.T. Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. Elizabeth was born June 30, 1924 in Perrysville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Edward and Minnie Marie Bayless Onley. She first married Robert Fender. She later married Max Ned Fortner in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1958. Survivors include: one daughter, Dianna Porter of Danville, Illinois; one son, Robert(Patricia)Fender of Danville, Illinois; 8 grandchildren, Lori Pate; Lisa(Clem)Pate Michel; Carol Barfell; Tammy(Red)New; James Fender; Joe(Janet)Fender; Jay(Kelly)Fender and Wyonia(Chad)Ray; 18 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren; 5 step great great grandchildren; two sisters, Rachel Watkins of Danville, Illinois and Shirley Tolley of Milan, Illinois. Elizabeth was preceded in death by one great grandson; four sisters and one brother. Elizabeth was a former manager at Church's Chicken and Dairy Queen (Fairchild Street). She also worked part time at General Electric. Elizabeth enjoyed having rummage sales, playing cards and watching Indiana University Basketball.
